The Unit is responsible for development and formulation of policies to promote and regulate the construction industry sector. The Unit is also responsible for maintaining programs to enhance capacity development of small and medium size locally-owned contractors in conjunction with training institutions to grow the industry.

The Construction Industry Unit was established in 1992 to implement strategies to promote and ensure the orderly growth of the local construction industry.

It has three Branches:

(1) Industry Development Branch;
(2) Manpower Development & Training Branch;
(3) Technology Development Branch.
